Quick and Easy Egg Salad Sandwich

If you are anything like me, easy and quick recipes are a must! I have two young children who are very active in sports, so spending my entire day in the kitchen is not something I can do. And if you have been following me for any time, you will know that most of my recipes take less than 15 minutes to prepare. This recipe is no different!


Literally the best egg salad recipe!


When I think of egg salad, it brings up fond memories of my childhood. Egg salad and tuna salad! were two recipes that my mom would make that I never refused to eat. I love the simplicity of this classic egg salad sandwich because it only requires a few ingredients. Boiled eggs, mayonnaise, the mustard of your choice and herbs! The best thing about this recipe is that it's fairly customizable to the ingredients in your house and your own personal taste.


What is the best way to prepare the egg salad sandwich?


The best way to prepare any sandwich is to add bacon! Bacon just makes life better! The second most important ingredient is choosing a delicious bread. For most of my sandwich recipes, I use Dave's Killer Bread, but use whichever bread you love. I have always enjoyed a hearty whole grain or multigrain bread with my egg salad.


What other flavors can be added to the classic egg salad?


The flavors seem to compliment each other very well. If you want to fancy this sandwich up, you can add:

  • Avocado

  • Tomatoes

  • Lettuce

  • More bacon

  • Dill or pickle juice

  • Shrimp


How do I prepare the hard boiled eggs?


There are dozens of techniques used to make hard boiled eggs but I have stuck with the same one I learned since I was a kid. It's tried and true!

  • Bring 4 - 6 cups of water to rolling boil. it should be enough to submerge the eggs.

  • Add 1 tbsp of white vinegar to the boiling water and add the eggs

  • Boil for 3 1/2 minutes

  • Remove from the heat, cover and let sit for 14 minutes.

  • Remove eggs from the pot and add to an ice bath.

How do I make this classic quick and easy egg salad?


Peel and chop the eggs in a medium sized bowl. Add mayonnaise, stone ground mustard, parsley, paprika salt and pepper. Mix well. I recommend the optional step of refrigerating the egg salad for about an hour.


How does this classic quick and easy egg salad last?


If you properly store the classic egg salad, then it should last 3 to 4 days. Put the salad in an airtight container to help the prevention of bacteria growth. Keep the container sealed in the refrigerator until ready to serve.


Are there other ways to prepare the classic egg salad?


Absolutely! This classic egg salad is perfect as a side, on a sandwich, in a salad or by itself. For me, the best way to eat my classic egg salad is on a sandwich with a side of more egg salad. Like I mentioned, this is one of those classic recipes that I cannot get enough of.

Quick and Easy Classic Egg Salad

4 Eggs

2 tbsp mayo (Sir Kensingtons is the best)

1 tsp stone ground mustard

1 tsp paprika

Cracked pepper

½ tsp salt

1 tsp chopped parsley


Directions: Peel‌ the eggs and chop them‌ ‌in‌ ‌a‌ ‌medium‌ ‌sized‌ ‌bowl. Add mayonnaise, stone ground mustard, parsley, paprika salt and pepper. Mix well. I recommend the optional step of refrigerating the egg salad for about an hour.
